Noah Hutchinson has been drawing comics and cartoons since the third grade. When he and his family moved to MD网爆门 his freshman year, he entered McCallum Fine Arts Academy to pursue his passion for art.
Once at McCallum, Hutchinson began to explore video game design and programming. He began participating in video game design competitions, including the SkillsUSA Interactive Application and Video Game Creation Competition and the Global Game Jam, the world鈥檚 largest game creation competition.
However, Hutchinson鈥檚 aspirations are bigger than just video game design. He hopes to start a company to provide a platform that helps Black creators fund and launch their games.
He realized this dream after the release of Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. Hutchinson was so excited to see Black characters represented on such a platform that he was moved to help other people in his community feel that way.
鈥淚 just want other people to be inspired like that and to open a larger market for other stories to be told,鈥 Hutchinson said.
Hutchinson knows there are plenty of talented Black video game creators, but not enough Black-owned companies. He plans to become a leader that can open more doors for Black talent.
鈥淚t鈥檚 just underrepresentation,鈥 Hutchinson said. 鈥淭he first time I met Ian Jones-Quartey, who is a Black animator, at a convention I remember being really excited that there are other Black people doing the things I'm interested in.鈥
Jeffrey Seckar-Martinez, Hutchinson鈥檚 art teacher, looks forward to seeing the change that Hutchinson will create in the community.
鈥淣oah is an artist and scholar who uses his visual communication skills to provide insight about the world we live in,鈥 Seckar-Martinez said. 鈥淗e is a well-rounded individual with a sense of humor, intelligence and the capacity to make our world a better place.鈥
Hutchinson will attend the University of Southern California鈥檚 School of Cinematic Art to major in interactive media with a minor in business.

"Solo quiero que otras personas se inspiren as铆 y abrir un mercado m谩s grande para que se cuenten otras historias", dijo Hutchinson.
Hutchinson sabe que hay muchos creadores negros de videojuegos con talento, pero no suficientes compa帽铆as que sean propiedad de personas negras. Planea convertirse en un l铆der que pueda abrir m谩s puertas para el talento negro.
"Es solo infrarrepresentaci贸n", dijo Hutchinson. "Cuando conoc铆 a Ian Jones-Quartey, que es un animador negro, en una convenci贸n, recuerdo haber estado realmente emocionado de que hab铆a otra gente negra haciendo las cosas en las que estoy interesado".
Jeffrey Seckar-Mart铆nez, el maestro de Arte de Hutchinson, espera ver el cambio que Hutchinson crear谩 en la comunidad.
"Noah es un artista y un alumno que utiliza sus destrezas de comunicaci贸n visual para dar su perspectiva del mundo en el que vivimos", dijo Seckar-Mart铆nez. "Es un individuo completo con sentido del humor, inteligencia y la capacidad de hacer de nuestro mundo un lugar mejor".
Hutchinson asistir谩 a la Facultad de Arte Cinematogr谩fico de la Universidad del Sur de California para estudiar Medios Interactivos con una especializaci贸n secundaria en Negocios.
